Summary

Any small or medium-sized enterprise with its registered office in the Walloon Region that wishes to carry out regulated motor vehicle activities (= retail sale of used vehicles and/or repair or modification of vehicle bodywork) must prove that it has the professional competence to carry out this activity at an Enterprise Counter.

The cross-sector professional skills associated with motor vehicles (retail sale of used vehicles and/or repair or modification of vehicle bodywork) must be provided by a person within the SME.

The cross-sector professional skills associated with motor vehicles (retail sale of used vehicles and/or repair or modification of vehicle bodywork) can be proven by means of a diploma, professional experience or a certificate from the Central Examinations Board.

Target audience – details

Professional accreditation for motor vehicle activities (retail sale of used vehicles and/or repair or modification of vehicle bodywork) is intended for people who wish to bring the cross-sector professional skills associated with motor vehicles to a small or medium-sized enterprise carrying out this regulated activity.

The SMEs concerned may be incorporated as natural or legal persons.

Conditions

The cross-sector professional skills associated with motor vehicles (retail sale of used vehicles and/or repair or modification of vehicle bodywork) can be proven:

  • by a diploma (minimum level required: 6th year of secondary education) or vocational training qualification (apprenticeship or business owner);
  • by professional experience of 3 years (full time) or 5 years (part time) in the last 15 years;
  • or by a certificate from the Central Examinations Board.
Benefits

If professional accreditation in relation to motor vehicles (retail sale of used vehicles and/or repair or modification of vehicle bodywork) is obtained, the small or medium-sized enterprise may carry out regulated activities on motor vehicles (subject to further administrative formalities).

Procedure

To obtain professional accreditation for motor vehicle activities (retail sale of used vehicles and/or repair or modification of vehicle bodywork), the small or medium-sized enterprise must prove that it has cross-sector professional competence relating to motor vehicles at an Enterprise Counter.

Remedies:

If accreditation is refused, the applicant may lodge an appeal with the Conseil d’Etablissement – Place de la Wallonie 1, 5100 Jambes – within 30 days of the Enterprise Counter’s refusal decision becoming known to the applicant.

If the Education Board confirms the Enterprise Counter’s refusal decision, the applicant may lodge an appeal with the Council of State within 60 days of the Education Board’s refusal decision becoming known to the applicant.
